Eleanor E. Whitsel, 90, died at Fountain Springs Health Care on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010. Eleanor Eline Morris was born on February 7, 1920, in Chadron, Nebraska, to Henry Clay and Dorothy E. (Wilson) Morris. She was united in marriage to Ormund B. Tad Whitsel on June 23, 1940 at Chadron. Eleanor and Tad resided in Chadron following their marriage. Eleanor and Tad worked ranches in Central Texas, Mobridge, South Dakota, for eight years and Fargo, North Dakota for five years before moving to Rapid City. Eleanor and Tad were then involved in the Sarah Coventry Jewelry Business for many years and enjoyed meeting people throughout the country. She was also a member of Rapid City Does Drove. Survivors include a niece, Janet Adams, Chadron, Nebraska; a nephew, Arvid Rhoads; a niece Garlan Rhoads, several great-nieces and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Tad in November of 2003. Visitation will be one hour prior to services, which will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 13, at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Grinager and Rev. Kim Bachman officiating.
