Obituary

Lakewood, Colorado - Elinore Stieha Pavek, 87, formerly of Rapid City, died on August 13, 2015 at Allison Care Center in Lakewood, CO. with her son by her side. She was born December 11, 1927, in Vermillion, SD, the youngest of seven children born to Alfred and Laura (Kimball) Olson. At age 2 she moved with her family to Hermosa, SD, graduating from Rapid City High School in 1945. She worked at Benson Optical for 10 years, then as secretary to the president at Black Hills Power and Light Co. for 25 years. After a year in Phoenix, AZ, where she worked for Arizona Public Service, she returned to Rapid City and worked as secretary to the manager at Merillat Industries until her retirement in 1993. In 1952 she married Merl Horne and they had one daughter, Cheryl. In 1956 she married Claude Stieha and they had one son, Robert. In 1988 she married Merle Pavek. For many years, she was a member of the National Secretaries Association, serving as president at both the local and district levels. She was a member of Altrusa Club, serving two terms as president, and was active in Sons of Norway and Republican Women. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, served as secretary of the council for over 20 years, and was a charter member and director of the Trinity Foundation. She was Bible study leader for her church circle, and president of Trinity Lutheran Church Women for many years. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Wiehe, Rapid City; one daughter, Cheryl Junge, Rapid City; one son, Robert Stieha, Littleton, CO; four grandchildren, Brian (Lucretia) Junge, Tampa, FL; Lindsay (David) Dowling, Rapid City; Analeesa (Evan) Ciampi, Hoboken, NJ; Ross Stieha, Littleton, CO; one great-granddaughter and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Merle Pavek, her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City. Private inurnment will take place at Highland Park Cemetery in Hermosa, SD. Memorials may be sent to the Radio Broadcast Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City.
