Obituary

RAPID CITY- Elizabeth J. "Betty" Kramer, 71, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House. Betty was born on December 31, 1941 in Java, South Dakota to Fred and Emma (Holzwarth) Schott. Her early childhood years were spent in Java until her parents sold the family farm. The family then moved to Mobridge during Betty's 4th grade year and she graduated from Mobridge High School. She was involved in many activities but enjoyed dancing, twirling, and playing the piano the best. She even taught twirling lessons. She met James R. Kramer on a blind date at the University of South Dakota. It was love at first sight and the couple married on October 19, 1961 at St. Joseph Parish in Mobridge. To this union three children were born: Angela, Jackie, and Matthew. Betty enjoyed reading, especially Rev. Billy Graham and other religious books, watching many TV shows including NCIS and anything on the animal planet. During the years she became a very good cook. She had come really far since not knowing how to fry an egg when she and Jim first started dating. She will be remembered for being a loving, sensitive, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, niece, cousin, and friend. Her children will especially miss the frequent calls that she made to check in on them and the grandchildren. Betty is survived by her husband, James R. "Jim" Kramer, Rapid City; daughter, Jackie (Matthew) Gage, Bristow, VA; son, Matthew (Lisa) Kramer, Atlanta, GA; special uncles: Brownie Holzwarth and Jake Pfeifle; three special cousins: Gerri Stillwell, Brenda Brixen, and Bryan Pfeifle; brother and sister in laws: Jerome "Jerry" (Beverly) Kramer, Delila (Eddie) Senger, Tom (Trish) Kramer, Bob (Eileen) Kramer, Joe (Kathy) Kramer; Shirley (Rod) Permann; nephews: Monty (Michelle) Ackerman and Arnie Ackerman; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Angela Kramer in November, 2012; and one sister Pearl and her husband Alvin Ackerman. Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Church with a Christian Wake Service and Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the church with Rev.
