Rapid City – Elmer "Ed" Staggs, 85, died Friday, June 12, 2020 at Monument Health Rapid City Regional

Hospital.

Elmer Edward Staggs was born July 8, 1934 at Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Harlin and Rose (McClusky) Staggs. He entered the United States Air Force in Nashville on May 13, 1954 and served until May 31, 1980 when he retired from Ellsworth Air Force Base as a Chief Master Sergeant with an Honorable Discharge.

He married Yoko Leta Tsuji on June 20, 1957 at Tokyo, Japan while stationed there in the Air Force.

After his retirement from the Air Force, they continued to live in Rapid City.

Ed is survived by his wife Yoko of Rapid City and special friend Jenny Schmidt of Rapid City.

Graveside services will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis on Wednesday, June 17 with Chief Chaplain (Ret.) Herb B. Cleveland officiating.
