RAPID CITY- Elnora Niederworder, 94, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at Golden Living Center Prairie Hills. Elnora was born May 16, 1920 in Philip, SD to Carl and Bertina (Peterson) Niederworder. She attended school in Philip and graduated from Philip High School. Elnora attended Aeronautical Ground School, as well as Black Hills Teachers College, and studied fashion curriculum at UCLA. She taught in South Dakota public schools. Elnora moved to California and worked as an employee counselor at Lockheed A/C. She became a department store buyer for Broadway Department Stores. Moving on to Fifth Avenue in New York City, Elnora established and developed a Manhattan Shop for Lord and Taylor- a real shopping oasis for women for over twenty five years. She then owned and published her own designer collection catalog for eight years. Elnora was recruited by the World Trade Institute as a Marketing Merchandising Manager and given assignments around the world. Her home base was on the fifty-fifth floor of the World Trade Center in New York City. She also was a licensed Real Estate Broker and owned her own business in New York City. She also fulfilled her lifelong dream and became a published author. Elnora moved to Rapid City in November of 2012 to be closer to her family. She will be remembered for being a strong willed, independent woman who could achieve anything she set her mind to. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Lucella Niederworder and Viola Smith; and brothers: Baynard, Morris, and Leslie Niederworder. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her sister in law, Marie Niederworder. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Sam Bobby officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
