Obituary

RAPID CITY, SD - Elsie Morawa, 77, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on July 1, 2008. She was born to August and Luzia (Hubert) Bauer on November 20,1930 in Amorbach, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. She attended grade school and business school, graduating in 1945. In 1948 she married Edward Schumacher and with him moved to Timber Lake, South Dakota where she worked as a waitress and cook in several restaurants. In 1950 the couple had a son, Joe Schumacher. From 1954 until 1964 she managed her own restaurants. Elsie moved to Rapid City in 1967 and in 1968 she married Frank Morawa. From 1972 she was employed by Continental Power and Power Engineering, companies owned by her husband Frank. She retired in 2000. Elsie was an avid gardener, a fine cook and a wonderful storyteller. She was much loved in life and will be sadly missed by her many friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and her son Joe. She is survived by her husband Frank of Rapid City. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, Rapid City. Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Internment will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
