RAPID CITY- Emil Jundt, age 98 and 7 months, passed away December 1, 2017.
Emil was born in McLaughlin, SD in 1919 to Frederick and Lydia (Jacober) Jundt. He was the 4th of 8 children.
Emil married Irene (Link) on January 1, 1942. To this union were born five children: Pamela, Theresa, Kenton, Ward, and Brenda. He served in the US Army during World War II.
After being honorably discharged from the US Army, Emil & his brother, Fred, purchased a gas station from their father in McLaughlin. In 1962 Emil, his wife, and family moved to Mobridge and he was a partner in B&R Motors.
After retirement Emil and Irene moved to Black Hawk where they enjoyed their later years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene; one great grandson; and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons: Kenton (Marlys) Jundt; Ward Jundt; three daughters: Pamela Rector; Terry (Merle) Werner; Brenda Cross; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Wilbur Holz officiating.
Burial at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota Army National Guard.
