Obituary

RAPID CITY- Erma Katheryn Hrachovec, 95, Rapid City, and former longtime Hot Springs resident, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Fountain Springs Health Care in Rapid City. She was born March 17, 1917, in Farmer, SD to John P. and Katherine (Hemmer) Manders. Erma and her husband, Francis J. "Shorty" Hrachovec owned and operated Evans Heights Motel and Clifton Restaurant in Hot Springs for many years, beginning in the 1930's. As a young woman Erma's employment included the Central Electric, and later she was a bookkeeper for the Ford auto dealership and the Fall River Veterinary Clinic. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, brothers: Wilfrid Manders, Harold Manders, and Joseph Manders; and sister, Mary Maki. Erma is survived by daughter, Barbara (Ross) Marine, Kansas City, Missouri; son Raymond (Betty) Hrachovec, Black Hawk; grandchildren, Paula (Stephen) Pawlewicz; Eric (Emily) Marine; Dale (Hazel) Hrachovec and Michael (Jennifer) Hrachovec; nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Anne Rogers, Garden Grove, CA; and Lenore Culver, Encino, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 9, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hot Springs with Rev. Peter Kovarik presiding. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
