RAPID CITY--Erna Sieler, 103, passed away at Clarkson-Mountain Guest Home on Monday, March 23, 2009. She was born on June 1, 1905, in Menno, to Karl and Regina (Seydel) Heckenlaible. She received her teaching certificate from USD. One September 19, 1933, she married Reuben Sieler in Tripp. They lived in Tripp and moved to Rapid City in 1939. Reuben drown while duck hunting in 1939. A daughter, Margaret was born in 1940. Erna worked at Sewell and Tobin Furniture Store as a sales clerk and bookkeeper for many years. She also worked at Baron's Dress Shop. She was active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martha Circle, Church Council, Choir and Altar Guild. Erna enjoyed traveling to see her family in Montana and California. She also enjoyed gardening. Survivors include 2 grandchildren, Todd Jacobson, Anchorage, AK and Jeff (Meira) Jacobson Oahu, HI, 2 great-grandchildren, Noa and Cy Jacobson, a son-in-law, Wally Jacobson, Kalispel, MT; a sister-in-law, Amy Heckenlaible and several nieces and nephews, including a niece, Maxine Sieler, Rapid City. She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Margaret in 1983; 5 brothers and a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27, at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Chapel in the Pines.
