RAPID CITY- Eugene J. "Gene" Dvoracek, 93, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born in Dante, SD on November 12, 1920 to Frank and Josephine (Obr) Dvoracek. He grew up and attended school in the Dante area. On September 10, 1946 he married Evelyn Mazourek and they have a son, Richard Eugene. They farmed south of Wagner, SD and in 1957 moved to Rapid City and lived here since. Gene worked in home building, retail gas, and retired from the Rapid City School System in 1983. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. He loved people and company stopping by. He especially liked playing double deck pinochle with friends and family. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, and dancing, especially the polka. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, Richard (Barbara) Dvoracek; and many special nieces and nephews. He was known as Uncle Gene to more than just his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and a daughter in law, Kathy. A Christian Wake Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Brian Lane presiding. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City.
