Obituary

RAPID CITY- Eugene A. "Fuzz" Ewing, 86, died July 22, 2014. Fuzz was born on July 29, 1927 in Rapid City to Charles and Marion Ewing. He graduated from Rapid City High School in 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Army immediately after high school. He served in the Tank Corp in Stuttgart, Germany. After the war he enrolled at the University of Wyoming. Fuzz married Elaine Fitzgerald in Rapid City on May 25, 1950. They raised their five children in the house they built 58 years ago. Fuzz sold cars for many years and insurance in the later years of his career. His passions were his wife, family, baseball, and cars. He especially enjoyed his later years watching his ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren grow up. Fuzz was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, and his son, Richard. Survivors include his wife, Elaine, Rapid City; two sons: Bill (Nancy) Ewing, Rapid City; Joe (Diane) Ewing, Littleton, CO; two daughters: Marci (Harry) Maddox, Rapid City; Mary (Bobby) Mitchell, Douglasville, GA; sister, Kay (Keith) Long, Ft. Collins, CO; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Christian Wake service at 7:00 p.m. Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Brian Lane presiding. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.
