Eunice G. Johnson died at age 95 on July 23, 2025 at West Hills Healthcare in Rapid City, SD. She was born on March 10, 1930, in Huron, SD to O.S. (Sam) and Ella Wickre Gutormson. She graduated from Huron High School in 1947 and from South Dakota State College in 1951. She married Charles W. (Chuck) Johnson on September 30, 1951. They lived on the Johnson Bar 5 Ranch near Rapid City, where they raised their four children.
Eunice was an expert seamstress and tailor and later became an avid quilter. She was active in the Starlight Extension Club, was a 4-H Club leader, participated in many activities at First Congregational Church and was a 50-year member of PEO. She loved tending her large rose garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Anita J. Whisney, son-in-law Dennis D. Whisney, her parents and two brothers. She is survived by daughter, Jeanne J. (Joe) Harmon, Kent, WA; sons Alan C. Johnson, Hermosa and Ross R. (Fern) Johnson, Rapid City as well as ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church, 1200 Clark Street, Rapid City on Monday, July 28 at 1:00 pm. A time of fellowship will follow the service. Private family burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
