RAPID CITY- Eunice I. Rice, 102, longtime Custer resident, died August 8, 2015 in Rapid City. Eunice was born on July 17, 1913 to John and Agnus Emery. She graduated from Colton High School. While living in Colton, she met the love of her life, Leslie A. Rice. They were married in Custer on February 17, 1934. Working together they operated a grocery store in Custer for over 30 years. Eunice was a very active member of the Custer Community Church. She was a Deacon, taught Sunday school, and participated in numerous church activities for many years. She was a member of the Rebeccas for over 50 years and was also active in the Custer Business and Professional Women's organization. She loved to cook and was well known for her meals and cookies. Her recreation was playing bridge which she did well into her 90's and other card games up to her death. Eunice is survived by daughter, Arlett (Everett) Gomer, Arvada, CO; son, Leslie (Patty) Rice, Jr., Black Hawk; five grandchildren: Scott (Maggie) Gomer, Denver, CO; Doug Gomer, Thornton, CO; Richelle (William) Tanner, Edgemont; Ray (Juli) Rice, Spearfish; Terry Rice, Littleton, CO; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and two sisters. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Custer Community Church with Pastors Floyd and Norma Mills officiating. Inurnment will follow at Custer Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Clarkson Healthcare Activities Department.
