Evelyn Ruth Cramer, 88, a lifelong Rapid City resident, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in Yankton, SD, where she had been living since 2013. Evy was born November 28, 1926, in Presho, SD to William and Elisha (Lindland) Lien, both of whom immigrated from Norway. She was the youngest of six children. Evy grew up in Presho and attended school at Lund Rural School in Lyman County. Her older sister, Esther, was Evy's elementary school teacher and a close, lifelong friend. Evy graduated from Presho High School. During WWII when there was a shortage of teachers, Evy taught first grade when only 17 years old. She went on to graduate from Northern State College with a degree in Education. She married Roy Cramer, Jr. on September 10, 1954, at Presho. Evy taught second graders for more than 30 years at Robbinsdale and Rapid Valley Elementary Schools in Rapid City. She enjoyed oil painting, golf, skiing, picking raspberries and chokecherries, fishing, gardening, and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in September 2009; parents; sister Esther Schoenhard; and four brothers Norman, Burton, Adolph, and Irvin Lien. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon (William) Steigers, of Littleton, CO and a son, Steve (Kathy) Cramer, of Rapid City; granddaughter Laura Steigers; grandsons Justin (Kaitlin) and Cody (Rochelle Sherman) Cramer, and Chadron and Marc Steigers; great-grandchildren Bella and Landon Cramer; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2015, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd, Rapid City (605) 343-0077. A reception will follow at 12:00 PM noon at a location to be announced at the service. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD. A second service with reception will be at 3:30 PM on Monday, October 5, 2015, at Discovery Church, 205 W 3rd St, Yankton (605) 689-2211.
