RAPID CITY- Evelyn Lavonne Schock, 94, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at Fountain Springs Health Care. She was born December 26, 1919 on a farm in Pilot Grove, Minnesota, the youngest of five children to Osmund and Stena Viland. She was a tomboy at heart and talked often about going to country school and all the fun they had. She went on to graduate from Elmore High School and married Everett Schock, a marriage that lasted for 60 years. To this union two sons were born, Gary and Wendell and a daughter, Boni. Everett and Evelyn moved out to Rapid City from Minnesota in 1963, where they lived until retirement. They then spent part of the year in Mesa, Arizona and traveling visiting family and friends. She was a patient, kind, soft spoken little Norwegian with a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous chuckle. She loved spending time with family, bowling, going to dances with dad, snowmobiling, jeeping, camping, and most of all getting out that deck of cards. She was preceded in death by her husband Everett; parents; brothers: Roy and Orville Viland; sisters: Esther Fussner and Ruby True, granddaughters: Amy Tracy and Sandra Schock. She is survived by her children: Gary (Lois) Schock; Wendell (Sandy) Schock; Boni (Loran) Tracy; all of Rapid City and was blessed with eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren and one on the way. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Herb B. Cleveland officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City. Our family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Fountain Springs for the wonderful care she received.
