Rapid City Evelyn E. Yackley, 88, Rapid City died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Mercy-Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. She was born on August 24, 1920 at Valentine Nebr., the daughter of Frank and Amanda Wilson. She attended Nursing School in Denver, CO, graduating with a BS in Nursing. She held various nursing positions including Hospital Administrator and in physician offices in Valentine, NE and Rapid City. She was married to James V. Yackley, MD, in 1953. He preceded her in death in 2000. Evelyn Yackley was a member of the Medical Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, South Dakota Cowbells, Sunbird Beauties Red Hat Chapter in Chandler, AZ, Lions Club, and Garden Club and Arrowhead Country Club. She was active in civic affairs and many church ministries. She was an avid crafter, seamstress, traveler, and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and James also spent winters in Chandler, AZ, since 1990. Survivors include her children, Carman Timmerman, Rapid City, Mary Claire May, Custer, Michelle A. Williams, Birmingham, Ala. Judy Jenkins, Gahanna, Ohio, Susan Rabenburg, Livingston, Montana, Michael James Yackley, Rapid City, Mark Anthony Yackley, Buhler, KS; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grand children and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, March 26 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Christian wake services will be at 7pm Thursday, March 26 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am Friday, March 27, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with the Father Gary Oreshoski presiding. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established to Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
