Obituary

Everett B. Reindl, 89, of Black Hawk, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center at Ft. Meade.

Everett was born on April 4, 1926 in Wessington Springs to Peter and Florence (Ryan) Reindl. He was raised on the family farm near Wessington Springs, graduating from Wessington Springs High School in 1944. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Army.

After his discharge, Everett returned to the farm to help his father who was in failing health. He married Marie Grohs on June 7, 1971 in Wessington Springs. In 1980, Everett moved to Rapid City where he worked on a ranch in Piedmont Valley, fixing everything that needed fixing and working with the horses. After the ranch was downsized, Everett worked for Arrow Plumbing.

He married Lila Freese at Our Lady of the Black Hills in Piedmont in 1986. Everett enjoyed woodworking, making all sorts of furniture, as his children will attest to. Square dancing was important to him, he loved all sorts of dancing. Fishing and hunting were a large part of his life, just being outside made him happy. Everett is a past member of American Legion Post 16 in Wessington Springs and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Lila Reindl, Black Hawk, four sons; Darwin Reindl (Kay) Wessington Springs, Roger Reindl (Vicky), Huron, Les Rendl (Lynn), Black Hawk and Bruce Reindl (Paula) Watertown, five daughters; Pamela Meyer, Pierre, Sheila Hodgson (Bill), Rio Ranch, NM, Charla Willman (Wayne), Gann Valley, SD Gail Thomas, Custer and Brenda Thomas (Darla) Bonner Springs, KS, 22 grandchildren , 39 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, a sister, Lela Mae Grohs (Donald) Huron.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nancy Reindl, two brothers; LeRoy and Lloyd and two sisters; Patricia Grohs and Eleanor Knight. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Church with a Christian Wake Service and Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, at the church with Fr Grant Gerlach presiding.

Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors.
