Faye Ann
Lancaster
December 24, 1959 – March 8, 2026
Faye Lancaster, 66, of Rapid City SD, passed on March 8th, 2026.
Faye was born December 24th, 1959, in Miles City, MT. Faye was the youngest of six children, and the fourth child of the family with Down syndrome. During Faye’s childhood, the family lived in Miles City, MT, first in town and later on a small farm. After Faye’s father, Phillip, passed in 1972, her mother Beulah moved with Faye and her brother Larry (who also had Down syndrome), to Rapid City to be closer to family and to be in a community with better support services for people with disabilities.
In Rapid City, Faye and Larry participated in services with Black Hills Works while living with their mother. She cared for Faye and Larry until she was 88 years old and could no longer care for them at home, they then transitioned to residential services with Black Hills Works.
Faye enjoyed bowling, participating in Special Olympics, going out to eat, attending Camp Friendship, and going to Bible Study.
Faye was preceded in death by her older sisters, Marsha and Leal, parents Phillip and Beulah, and brother Larry. She is survived by her sister Carol Chabot (Killen, AL), her niece Amber Fischer (Bozeman, MT), and her brother Bruce Lancaster (TX).
The family would like to extend whole-hearted thanks to Black Hills Works for their love and support for Faye over her many years with them, and especially as her health declined.
Faye’s life will be celebrated with a short ceremony on April 9th, 2026 at 11am at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd, Rapid City, SD. Faye’s family would be delighted and thankful if members of the community who knew Faye and staff from Black Hills Works who worked with Faye would attend.
Memorials may be made in Faye’s name to Camp Friendship of the Black Hills, PO Box 1986, Rapid City, SD 57709. www.campfriendshipsd.org
