RAPID CITY--Floyd H. Hellwig, 93, Rapid City, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Rapid City Regional Auxiliary Hospice House. He was born March 30, 1915 on a farm east of Menno, SD, the son of Edward and Ella (Grossman) Hellwig. He met Elenora Foos in June 1933 and they were married Dec. 22, 1934 in Belle Fourche. To this union two sons were born, Jerald and Vernon. Floyd farmed and owned the John Deere Implement dealership in Menno. In 1950 they moved to Sioux Falls and lived there until 1995 when they moved to Rapid City. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Charlotte. Surviving are two sons, Jerald and his wife Phyllis, of Rapid City, and their children, Lisa, Dirk, Stacy and Vicki; and Vernon and his wife Brenda, of Rapid City, and their children Kate (Matt), Jillian, Gina (Scott) and Carola. Also surviving are 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City with Pastor Joe Hobbs and Pastor Jacob Nelson officiating. Entombment will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
