Forrest G. Cutler, 80, of Rapid City, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
He was born July 10, 1936 in Roubaix, SD to William and Violet (Cooper) Cutler.
Forrest was raised in the Northern Black Hills, graduating from Lead High School.
Throughout his life, Forrest was conscientious in his labors, working at Twin City Fruit Company in Deadwood, constructing Pactola Dam, and working at the Rapid City Fire Department, his last station was at the Rapid City Regional Airport. He worked at Dakota Battery in the early seventies while he was with the fire dept, and in 1978 after retiring from the fire dept, he started D & F Diesel, and later owned/operated L&L Truck & Auto. At the time of his death he was working at Rapid Refrigeration.
Throughout his life, Forrest enjoyed rebuilding starters and generators and attending auto auctions. Buying cars and restoring them was a hobby for many years.
Survivors include his son, Lyle Cutler and his wife Angie, Rapid City; three grandchildren; two brothers, LeRoy Cutler, Custer and Marion Cutler, Lead; his sister, Wilma Rhoades, Custer; and sister in law, Jean Cutler, Kansas.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Florence.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, November 22 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Pastor Sharla McCaskell.
Interment will be in Mt View Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Rapid City Fire Department and the Rapid City Police Department.
