Rapid City Francis M. Timmons, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. He was known as Findy or Tim by friends and family. Findy was born on September 25, 1921 at Sturgis, South Dakota. He attended grade school in Meade County and graduated from St. Martins Academy in Sturgis, South Dakota in 1940. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Following military service he attended college at University of California - Berkley. After college he returned to work on the family ranch in Marcus, South Dakota. In 1951 he moved to Rapid City and he and his dad bought an operated the Crystal Bar. He owned an operated the Crystal Bar and Lounge, with his family, until 1982. Survivors include his brother, Tom Timmons and his wife Berniece, Rapid City four nephews, five nieces and numerous great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; a sister, Mary Colleen Timmons and a brother Dale Timmons. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until & 7:00 P.M., with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M., Monday, November 2, 2009, at the Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 3, at the Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Dan Juelfs presiding. Inurnment will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City, at a later date. A memorial has been established.
