Obituary

Frank "Franky" Kenneth Gott, age 25 and just two days shy of his 26th birthday, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 as a result of a car accident in Rapid City.

Frank Kenneth Gott was born November 30, 1991 at Watertown, South Dakota to Patricia Jane [Sayler] and Frank Henry Gott, Jr. As a young child the family lived in various places in North and South Dakota and eventually settling in the Rapid City area. His birth dad a United Stated Navy Seal, Frank Jr, died March 25, 2009 and his birth mom, Patricia died February 14, 2010. After the death of his parents this is when Franky became associated with Sheila Johnson and Lutheran Social Services and his foster dad and Godfather, Terry L. Gilbertson. Franky attended school in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City Central High School with the class of 2011.

Frank married Kalyn Elizabeth Quest on December 18, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Chaplain Herb B. Cleveland officiating. Chaplain Cleveland also baptized Franky and his three kids.

Frank was a very hard worker and never afraid to get dirty if the job needed to get done. He loved his kids and was a great father to them. He was very proud of the fact that his dad was a United States Navy Seal. He worked at various places throughout Box Elder and  Rapid City including Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home where he was very proud to be able to wear a suit and tie. At the time of his death he was employed with Wrecking Ball Construction.

He was a member of Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Calvary Lutheran Church and Loyal Order of Moose Rapid City Lodge #1137.

Franky is survived by his wife Kalyn Gott; his three children: Zoe Lynn Marie Gott age 6, Zayne Kenneth Gott age 3, and Mya Alaine Gott age 2, all of Rapid City; his grandparents: Kenneth and Norma Sayler of Lennox, SD; his foster dad and Godfather Terry L. Gilbertson of Black Hawk, SD; two half-brothers: Doug "DJ" Bendel Jr of Minnesota and Jeremy Loftesness of Sioux Falls, SD; his foster brothers: Ethan Nissen, Chandler Brown Otter, John Whipple V, Matthew Hulen, Dejon "DJ" Evans, Ty Hill, and Dylan Romero, Jr.; his foster grandmother: Delda Gilbertson of DeSmet, SD and his Godson Aaden Debattisa, born on the day of Franky's death; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents.

Honorary casketbearers will be his son Zayne Kenneth Gott and his foster brothers: Ethan Nissen, John Whipple V, Matthew Hulen, Dejon "DJ" Evans, Ty Hill, Dylan Romero, Jr., and Johnny Rodriquez and Family.

Active casketbearers will be his foster brother Chandler Brown Otter, his foster dad Terry L. Gilbertson, and Cody Arendt, Derek Voss, David Kahler, and Alan Edwards.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday, December 7 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Road, Rapid City with funeral services at 11:00 am with Chaplain (Ret.) Herb B. Cleveland officiating.

There will also be a Moose Memorial Service and Wambliska Singers and Drum Group at 11:00 am Thursday at the church during the service.

Cremation will follow the services. Burial of cremains will take place at the West Bethany Lutheran Cemetery at DeSmet, SD.
