IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank
Mosset
September 15, 1937 – October 27, 2020
Frank Mosset, 83, of Mesa AZ, and longtime resident of Rapid City, SD passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 27th at his home. Frank was born in McIntosh, SD on September 15, 1937 to Anton and Elizabeth (Kraft) Mosset. The oldest of five children, he grew up in North Dakota splitting time between the family farm and the town of Selfridge, ND. When not helping out on the farm, he played on the high school basketball team and would often be found playing games with groups of his friends. After graduating from Selfridge High School in 1956, he attended Bismarck Junior College for one year before settling in on the family farm. Frank was a man of many diverse talents, experiences, and passions. He loved to dance, and it was at a dance in McIntosh, SD that he met Elaine Campbell, whom he married on June 10, 1961. It was a short-lived honeymoon as Frank was drafted into the Army a few months later in August of 1961. He was discharged from the Army in April of 1962 shortly after the birth of his first son, Chuck in March of 1962. Two more children were to follow; a son (Wade) in July of 1963, and a daughter (Cindy) in September of 1964. Frank and the family moved to McIntosh, SD shortly after his discharge from the Army. While living in McIntosh Frank continued to help out on the family farm and worked a variety of odd jobs as well as working for the Corson County Highway Department. Just before moving the family to Rapid City, SD in August of 1971, Frank went to work as a salesman selling advertising specialties to businesses in North and South Dakota. Frank enjoyed the social aspect of the job and loved traveling the roads meeting customers and making lifelong friendships. Once in Rapid City, Frank started his own advertising business, Black Hills Advertising Specialties, which he continued to operate up until his death. It was at the American Legion in Rapid City, through mutual friends, that Frank met his special friend June Johnson. June shared Frank's love of dancing, especially square dancing, and they hit it off right away, spending many hours on the dance floor. Over the years Frank and June gradually became part of the winter migration to the Mesa, AZ area to escape the cold South Dakota winters, traveling back to South Dakota for a few of the summer months to reacquaint themselves with family and friends. The American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Loyal Order of Moose where a few of Frank's hangouts where he had many friends. Frank had a varied and long list of interests and hobbies that kept him busy. Included in these were model railroading, ham radio operating, playing cards, dancing, coin, and gun collecting. He was an avid reader and he and June would plan stops at different museums and points of interest on their trips traveling between AZ and SD. Frank's heritage was another strong interest of his and he would spent many hours on the computer investigating the family ancestry. A generous and kind man, Frank will be deeply missed by his special friend, June; his children, Charles (Gerri) Mosset, Wade (Laura) Mosset, Cynthia Mosset; grandchildren Randi, Sarah, Joseph, Matthew; step grandchildren Tucker, Jamie; great-grandchildren Dominic, Greyson; siblings Edward (Verna) Mosset, Geraldine Mosset; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Elizabeth and siblings, Charles, and Roy.
