Rapid City - Frank G. Rubin, 91, died on Monday, August 27, 2012 at his residence. Frank George Rubin was born March 21, 1921 at Parker, South Dakota to Frank and Marie [Vurn] Rubin. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to the Wagner area and later to Ravinia where he attended school at Ravinia and graduated from Ravinia High School in 1941. He then attended Brookings College [SDSU] and received his diploma in aeronautics maintenance. He was employed in Corsica, Texas and later transferred to Ellsworth Air Force Base where he was an inspector on the B-17's during World War II. He married Irma Lucy Trent on March 31, 1945 at Rapid City, SD and just this year celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. After World War II he was employed at Rapid Chevrolet. Shortly after that, Frank and Irma moved back to Ravinia where he had his own business as a car dealer and repair shop. Two years later he was offered a job as car salesman for Murray Hanson Co. in Rapid City and later at James Motors and Rapid Chevrolet where he received many awards and honors as top salesman for 37 years and the record sales that still holds today. After his retirement he and Irma moved to Westhills Village until his death. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman sharing his passion with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife: Irma Rubin of Rapid City; one son: Dean [Cathie] Rubin of Spearfish; four daughters: Gwen [Steve Menke] Lutz of Rapid City, Deanne [Buddy] Belzer of Rapid City, Mary Kay [Joe] Vetch of Belgrade, MT, and Sue [Jack] Teeslink of Wessington Springs; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother: John Rubin of Galesburg, Illinois. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, a 17-year old son: John Mark Rubin, who drowned in Pactola Lake on July 12, 1979, two brothers: Joe and Laddie, and four sisters: Mary, Ann, Tillie, and Frances. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 30 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard. There will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on Friday, August 31 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Boulevard. Burial will be at Mt. View Cemetery in the Mount Calvary section, Rapid City.
