Obituary

CUNY TABLE - Freda E. "Auntie" Yeager, 82, longtime Cuny Table area resident, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 17, 1925, to Ray and Thetna (Hudspeth) Yeager. Freda lived with her family on a ranch east of Buffalo Gap in the northwest corner of the Pine Ridge Reservation. She attended Red Cloud School at Holy Rosary Mission at Pine Ridge. Freda was the third of five girls: Edna, Nellie, Ruth and Mary along with a cousin, Bud Sherman, who was raised with the girls and considered their "big brother." Freda lived and worked in Utah, California, Rapid City, Red Cloud School and Rockyford School. After retiring, she and sister Nellie owned and operated the Cuny Table Cafe. She was known as "Auntie" to her large family of nieces and nephews, who she considered her "Babies." She will be missed more than words can say. We held her close for awhile, now, we release her to our family in heaven, where she rejoices with our Lord, Jesus Christ, dines in the banquet hall and dances with angels. We love you, Auntie. Survivors include two sisters, Nellie Cuny, Cuny Table, and Mary McGaa, Rushville, NE, many nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Edna Matern and Ruth Valosquez, and her big brother, Bud. Visitation will from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Rockyford School, with Fr. Rick Abert, S.J. presiding. Interment will be at the St Joseph Cemetery at Cuny Table.
