Obituary

Fredric "Christian" Echols, of Rapid City, SD, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the age of 50.

Christian was born on October 27, 1974, in Marion, North Carolina, where he spent his early years. He went on to serve in the United States Armed Forces, including time in Special Forces operations. During his eight years of service, he was deployed in Desert Storm and received several medals in recognition of his dedication and bravery.

After his time in the military, Christian continued to strive for excellence. He earned two master's degrees and went on to become a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating several thriving businesses.

A man of many passions, Christian loved the outdoors and was especially fond of hunting and fishing. He also had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs, who were his constant companions and brought him great joy.

Christian will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the way he lived his life. He was a kind and giving person; even when he had little, he would find a way to give to others. His generosity, strength, and unwavering spirit touched everyone who knew him.

Christian is survived by his life partner, Nicole Weimer; his son, Benjamin Echols; his daughter, Ciera Wethington; and his sister, Dolores Echols Ledford. He was preceded in death by his mother, Texie McInturff, and his younger brother, Shawn Turner.

A celebration of life will be held at the Old Storybook Island Shelter, 2911 Canyon Lake Drive, 4 pm-6 pm on Friday, September 26th, 2025.

Christian will be remembered for his strength, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
