Gabriel Joseph Butler 30 of Henderson, TX passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022.
A graveside service will be 2:00pm Friday, July 22, 2022, at Black Hills National Cemetery 20901 Pleasant Valley Dr in Sturgis, SD 57702. The funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 1:15pm. Online condolences can be left at www.osheimschmidt.com
Gabriel was born January 23, 1992, in Keflavik, Iceland to Thomas and Dee (Miller) Butler. On December 19, 2011, he married Cherish. To this union four children were born: Travis Gabriel, Vanessa Joy, Audrey Jasmine, and Clara Rose.
Gabriel is survived by his wife, children, parents, brothers; Michael (Alyssa) Butler of DeBerry, TX, Josiah Butler of Tulsa, OK, sisters; Alaina Butler of Tulsa, OK , Rebekah (Joshua) Vincent of Bloomington, MN, and half-siblings Jonathon Butler of Colorado Springs, CO and Sarah Butler of Ardmore, OK.
Gabriel served in the US Army with 82nd Airborne Division 1BCT 2/504 Charlie Company as an Airborne 11B and Company Armorer. He enlisted on June 1, 2010 and was medically retired on November 29th, 2014. HIs awards include Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and NATO Medal. He deployed to Afghanistan from March 2012 to August 2012 with the 82nd Airborne Division during his time in service.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Butler.
