Gabrielle "Gaby" Pauline Monette, 81, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024. She was born on April 19, 1942 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Predeceased by her sister, Irene Lagasse, and survived by Janet Langlais, Leo Langlais, and Marie Anne St. Arnaud.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years of marriage, Paul H. Monette, ("Thank you, Jesus, for my wife, for the gift of her life and love, and for the beautiful person His hands created. Please bless her and make her holy.")
She is lovingly remembered by Jane-Frances and Christopher Jones of VA, John and Marieta Monette of CT, Stephen and Julie Monette of MD, Teresa and Nicholas Burkard of CT, Margaret-Mary of Mérida, México, Mary of Colombia, and Anne and Mark Hazel of SD. She passed away leaving 25 grandchildren.
Gaby was cheerful, self-giving, and loved everybody around her. Besides raising her children, she was actively involved in Holy Trinity Parish in Lowell, Massachusetts, serving as treasurer in the Sodality of Our Lady of Czestochowa. She regularly prayed for those in the vocation to the priesthood, consecrated life, etc. She was a close collaborator with her husband in the National Nocturnal Adoration Society.
Visitation will be from 4:30pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, with a wake ceremony and recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm at Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with Fr. Brian Christensen as celebrant.
She will be interred at the National Cemetery of Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
