Gail Gerlach Rowett was born on August 26, 1923 in Vale, SD to June (Kendall) Gerlach and Melville R. Gerlach. Gail died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Westhills Village Health Care Center.

Gail grew up in the surrounding area and graduated from Rapid City High School. Gail met Joe Rowett and they were married on April 7, 1943 in Flint, MI. The first 24 years of Gail and Joe's marriage took the couple to six different states where they lived and traveled. They moved to Ojai, California in 1967 until they both retired. They moved back to Rapid City in 2004. While in Ojai, Gail worked for Ventura County until she retired.

Gail is survived by her daughter, Mary Duane, Gooding, ID; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; daughter, Margie; three brothers: Chuck, Delbert, and Richard; sister, Carroll; and great granddaughter, Kimberly Johnson.

Gail will be truly missed by all of us.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Black Hills Children's Home in Gail's name.
