Gary passed peacefully away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Hospice House in Rapid City.

He was born in Cody, Wyoming to Doris and Cecil Fine on April 18, 1951.

He grew up hunting, hiking, camping and fishing in the Big Horns with his family.  Gary also spent time trapping with his brother, Jim and engaging in a variety of sports, mainly basketball.  He graduated from Black Hills State University with a degree in Special Education and subsequently taught 6 ^th grade  in the Rapid City Public School System for a number of years.  Following his teaching career, he and his then wife, Diane, operated a successful business in Rapid City (Carpet Concepts) for several years.  For the rest of his working life he was a successful and highly regarded sales rep.; winning many awards.

Left to mourn his loss are his long-time friend and companion, Mary Erickson, his sister, Tammie Paulin of White City, Oregon, and various other relatives in Missouri, as well as a nephew, Andrew, also of White City, Oregon.  Also mourning Gary's loss is his dear friend, Pam Adams of Powell, Wyoming.  Pam and her son produced the special video of Gary and his photographs.  Thank you, Pam.

He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, his brother, Jim and Jeff and nephew, Forrest.

Gary's ashes will be scattered in his beloved Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming.  Gary faced his many difficulties in the past few years with outstanding bravery, strength, determination and most of all his wry sense of humor.  He was a very hard worker, determined, solution oriented and a reliable and supportive friend.  He will be so missed.

There will be a short service honoring Gary's life followed by refreshment and fellowship in the adjoining community room on Friday, February 25 ^th at 11:00 am.
