Gary N. McMachen, 76, died December 5, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House peacefully with family at his side. He was born April 6, 1938 in Williston, ND to Edgar and Alice (Anderson) McMachen. He graduated from high school there and went on to receive a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Dakota. In 1961 he was married to Gail Gunderson and to this union four sons were born. He worked for the Air Force as a civil servant for 34 years retiring in 1997 at Ellsworth Air Force Base where he had spent the last 25 years of his career. He is survived by his wife Gail and sons: Randy (Monique) and children Matthew (Julie) Lillis and Christin (Steve) Stringfellow and daughter Peyton Lillis, all of Texas; Tim (Gina) and daughter Alice of Hollis Center, ME; Steve (Crystal) and children Logan, Hayden, and Gavin of Rapid City; and Jon (Kara) and children Skyler and Brooklyn of Rapid City; and Aunt Maxine Lutz of West Allis, WI. He was preceded in death by: his parents; Aunts Clara Aal, Norma Nordtug, June Cockrell; and Uncle Conrad Anderson.
