Gary Dean Wehrkamp, 69, died October 26, 2024, at the Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.  Gary was born in Rapid City on November 11, 1954, to Lloyd and Marjorie Wehrkamp.  Gary was the youngest sibling joining sister Pam and brother Larry.  He graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1974.  During his High School years, he was known as an outstanding athlete.  Competing in both football and baseball, specifically for Post 22.  He was also especially known as one of the best punters in the state at that time.

During the devastating flood of '72 Gary found himself volunteering in the cleanup efforts.  He was later trained by his brother-in-law, Joe Mason, to lay flooring.  He spent years becoming a very skilled tradesman and continued that profession until his death.

All who knew him will remember his great sense of humor and how well he listened and cared for everyone, without judgement.  Gary felt most alive when he was hunting and fishing and taught his children and grandchildren the very same love for the outdoors.

Gary is survived by his son Jason and daughters Tonia and Misty, his grandchildren Kyle, Kayla, Kori, Katelyn, Eli, Mariah and Dominic whom he dearly loved, his brother Larry (Janine) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pam Mason.

Friends and family will gather at Pine Lawn Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 for a graveside service.
