George M. Bowlby, 86, Rapid City, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House. He was a U S Army veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, Rapid City, 2 sons, Terrance Bowlby, Toledo, OH and Michael O. Bowlby, Moberly, MO, a daughter, Mary Ellen Tjeerdsma, Alexandria, VA, 1 brother, Carl Bowlby, Ramona, CA, 3 sisters, Margery Ingalls, Sturgis, Mary Arneson, Sioux Falls and Nona Vig, Couer d'Alene, ID, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers and sisters and 1 grandchild. Visitation will be at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, Nov 14, with a rosary service at 5:00. Requiem High Mass will be at 10:00 Saturday, Nov. 15, at Immaculate Conception Church (5th & South Sts.) with Fr. Christopher Hathaway as celebrant. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at 10:30 A.M. Monday with military honors by Rushmore VFW Post 1273. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills.
