RAPID CITY - Gerald George "Jerry" Heikkinen, 69, passed away at Monument Health - Rapid City Hospital on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Jerry was born August 27, 1954 to George and Leona Heikkinen in Rapid City, South Dakota.  He graduated from Central High School in May, 1972.  His class song was "Friends" by John Denver.

In 1975, Jerry met Nora Dennis while they were working at Data Corp.  On August 28, 1976 He and Nora married.  They were blessed with two children, Jason and Jennifer.  Later they were blessed with six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jerry worked many jobs over the years including: Old Home Bakery, as a taxi driver, a courier and warehouse operations as well as for K-Mart and Target.

He enjoyed traveling, playing chess, cards and bowling.  Jerry also was a fan of the Packers, Broncos, Lakers and San Francisco Giants.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nora Heikkinen, children; Jason Heikkinen and Jennifer Likens, grandchildren Stacia Heikkinen, Nyssa Heikkinen, Logan Likens, Haley Heikkinen, Lilly Heikkinen, Michael "Mikey" Likens and great-grandson, Elijah Heikkinen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Debra and Dena.

Friends and family are invited to a graveside service that will be held Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City where he will be laid to rest.
