RAPID CITY-Gerald "Jerry" G. Jenson, 77, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, peacefully in his home. Jerry was born on March 9, 1937, in Newell, SD to Hans Carl and Bernice Anna (Anderson) Jenson. He was raised on his family homestead in Ralph, SD. He went to high school in Buffalo, SD, leaving after the 9th grade to work on the family farm. In 1959, Jerry was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he got his GED. He then became a truck driver, working for Maas Trucking in Bismarck, ND. He later moved to Rapid City, where he worked for Johnson Fuel Liners and then Standard oil, from where he later retired. During his retirement, Jerry drove for Metz Bakery and Rapid City Regional Hospital, driving the CAT scan truck. During Jerry's time in Bismarck, he married Linda Grenz. During this union, they had two children, Kelly and Corie. He later married Agnes Gall-Lunsford. She had three children, Teresa, Mia and Dawn. Jerry and Agnes were married for 31 years. Jerry was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, former member of both Moose Lodge and Terrific Truckers. He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, camping, restoring tractors, and other mechanical projects. He was a talented, self-taught quilter and tailor. Jerry's family, church and spending time with his grandkids, were the most important parts of his life. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene; and sister, Judy. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Jenson, Rapid City; son, Kelly (Kristen) Jenson, Rapid City; daughter, Corie (Chad) Culter, Denver, CO; step daughters: Teresa (Mark) Hinds, Conroe, TX; Mia (Lee) Williams, Deer Park, TX; Dawn Lunsford, Rapid City; brother in law, Bill Henderson, North Dakota; sister in law, Louise Jenson, Ralph, SD; and ten grandchildren. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Atonement Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors by the South Dakota Army National Guard and the VFW Post 1273.
