Gerald Roman Jerry Kurylas, 52, Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Rapid City, died November 18, 2008 at his home in Las Vegas, NV. He was born April 4, 1956 in Rapid City to Dr. Roman and Wilma (Bradsky) Kurylas. Jerry grew up in Rapid City and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Rapid City Central High School. He has made his residence in Las Vegas for many years. Jerry had great compassion for his fellow man and the homeless of Las Vegas, dedicating his life to helping others. He offered them food, shelter, clothing and much prayer. Jerry belonged to the Catholic Church and many prayer circles in Las Vegas. Never complaining, he suffered greatly through the years with numerous health problems. Thus, many of those he knew, as well as his family, were often unaware of his suffering. He became a great friend to those he met. Survivors include his parents, Dr. Roman and Wilma Kurylas, Rapid City, a brother, Dr. Stephan Kurylas, and his children Steven and Andrea, Crofton, Maryland, 3 sisters; Dr. Teresa Kurylas, Rapid City, Roxana Meeka Nader, and her husband Ed and their children, Adriana and Kristen, Parker, Colorado and Dr. Carolyn Kurylas, and her children, Shelby and Cayla, Phoenix, AZ. and Aunts and Uncles; Dr. Charles and Albina Kulpaca, Don and Florence Skinner, Nancy Bradsky, Walter Bradsky, and Vera Makar, all of Rapid City, Ola Kurylas, Silver Springs, Maryland, Luba Stasyshyn, and several aunts and uncles in the Ukraine, numerous cousins and a host of friends across the Unites States. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, Rapid City with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Catholic Burial will be offered at 10:00 am, Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Andrzej Wyrostek, presiding. Interment will be in the Mt Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City. A memorial has been established by the family.
