Rapid City Geraldine Gerry Rose Jahner, 73 of Menno and formerly of Rapid City, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Landmann-Jungman Memorial Hospital at Scotland, South Dakota. Gerry was born December 11, 1936 at Aberdeen, South Dakota to Wendel F. and Rose M. [Gabriel] Jahner. She attended school in Aberdeen at St. Marys Catholic Schools. The family then moved to Huron, SD for several years and later moved to Phoenix, AZ. She moved to Rapid City, SD in 1968 where she lived for several years. She spent her last years in Menno, SD at the Menno Olivet Care Center prior to her death. She liked to play cards, bingo, crochet and work puzzles. Gerry is survived by three brothers: Anton Jahner of Goleta, CA, Wendel Jahner of Phoenix, AZ, and Cork Jahner of Kerrville, TX; two sisters: Helen Beckham of Huntsville, AL and Frances Tallman of Spearfish, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father: James Cochren. There will be a private family graveside service at Pine Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are pending with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, Rapid City.
