Germaine L. 'Geri' Holmgren, 94, died at Fountain Springs Healthcare on Friday, October 16, 2015. She was born on April 13, 1921 to Jacob F. and Susanna (Brungardt) Schoendaller in Hyacinth, KS. Geri married Oscar F. Holmgren on April 25, 1946 in Hays, KS. Survivors include 2 daughters, Patricia Marie (William) Murner, of Custer and Kathryn Dianne (Troy) Hardesty, of Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a brother, Jacob (Mary Ann) Schoendaller, of Great Falls, MT; 2 sisters, Rita (Norman) Leiker, Hays, KS and Mildred Hoagland, San Jose, CA and son in law, Robert Breckenridge, of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar in 1981, a daughter, Sherry Ann Breckenridge, three sisters and two brothers. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 22, from 6:00 until 7:30 pm with a rosary service at 7:30 pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Christian funeral mass will be offered at 10:00 am, Friday, October 23 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Zandri presiding. Burial will be at 12:30 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the South Dakota Foundation for the Visually Impaired.
