Gilbert G. "Gib" Rogers, 75, of Rapid City, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Hospice House.

Gib was born March 9, 1946 in Rapid City, the youngest child of Robert and Marie (Lenaugh) Rogers. Gib went to school in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City High School, where he lettered in football. Gib continued to excel at football at General Beadle State College. He later earned his master's degree at the University of South Dakota. Gib met Betty Rasmussen in college, and they went on to have three children.

Gib taught and counseled junior high and high school children across South Dakota. His favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting in Lower Brule, traveling to new and faraway places, and later in his life, playing the casinos in Deadwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marie Rogers; his siblings Robert "Bob" Rogers, Jr.; Roberta Stewart, Jesse Rogers, Rita Breese; and several nieces and nephews.

Gib is survived by his brother, Norman Rogers; his three children; Jason Rogers, Jessica Rogers, and Rochelle (Andrew) Zens; and two grandchildren.

Gib's funeral service will be at 11:00 am, on Saturday, December 4, at the Lower Brule Community Center.
