RAPID CITY- Glenn H. Fauss, 98, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House. Glenn H. Fauss was born to Ida and Henry Fauss in Aberdeen South Dakota on April 27, 1916. He was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. He attended Northern State College, obtaining a BS in Education. While at Northern, he met his wife Helen Johnson of Doland. They were married on June 8, 1941. Glenn enlisted in the United States Navy and served as Captain of the USS Swan which was home ported at Pearl Harbor. Upon his return to South Dakota, he taught school at Mina, Delmont, Lake Norden and was Superintendent at Doland prior to moving to Rapid City in 1956. Glenn was a Math instructor in the Rapid City School system teaching at Central. He transferred to North Junior High when it first opened and remained there until his retirement in 1980. He was active at Trinity Lutheran Church, OWLS, Troop 4 Boy Scouts, Y's men club, substitute teaching, and gardening. Upon retiring, Glenn and Helen enjoyed spending 23 winters in Casa Grande Arizona and their summers in the Black Hills. Glenn was preceded in death in 2005 by his wife of 63 years, Helen Johnson Fauss and his sister Velma Peritz. He is survived by his brother Don Fauss of Aberdeen; two sons Paul (Nora) Fauss of Rapid City, Ken (Judy) Fauss of Rapid City; three Grandchildren Kris (Lisa) of Hudsonville, Michigan, Mike (Jess) of Omaha Nebraska, and Kathryn of Dayton Ohio, and five Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 9th at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors rendered by the TREA Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
