Obituary

RAPID CITY | Glorianne Ten Braak, 81, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2018. Her Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

She was born and raised in New England, ND, but spent her junior year of high school in Sheridan, MT. Following graduation, she worked in Dickinson for a time, then attended airline training school in Omaha. It was when she moved to Washington, DC, that she met and married Andy on July 26, 1958, at Bolling AFB. After relocating to Rapid City, their daughter Deb was born.

Glorianne always had a passion for volunteering. She and Andy were once very active with the church youth group and also were foster parents to countless children. She had a great love of animals all her life and volunteered at the Humane Society. Her desire to help patients led her to volunteer at RCRH for over 20 years in Admissions, the Surgical Waiting Room, as a CanSurmount mentor, Hospice volunteer and as coordinator of the Volunteen program. In 1988, she was given the Volunteer of the Year Award and was also a finalist for the state-wide Governor's Volunteer of the Year Award.

She was an avid gardener, reader, Rockies fan and local sports fan. Glorianne will be missed by many, especially her dachshund, Karli.

Glorianne is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Andy of Rapid City; daughter, Deb (Tom) Sarlo of Longmont, CO; grandsons, Jake of Longmont and Ben (Natalie) of Vancouver, British Columbia; and one sister, Marion Hartman of Brandon, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Frieda Stafford, as well as two brothers and four sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
