Obituary

RAPID CITY Gordon R. Milam, 73 Rapid City died Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Golden Living Center-Prairie Hills, Rapid City, SD. Gordon Ray Milam was born April 5, 1937 at Hays, Kansas to Earl and Marjie [Bailey] Milam. He attended school and graduated from Plainville High School, Kansas in 1955. He entered the United States Air Force in September of 1956 and was honorably discharged in September of 1962. He married Annie Jarzombek on May 28, 1960 at San Antonio, TX. After his military discharge Gordon began his career in the oil field supply business as a salesman in Kansas. He retired in 2002. In 2008 Gordon and Annie moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota and resided in Rapid City, where they have lived since. Gordon was a member of St. Therese Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife: Annie Milam of Rapid City; one son: Gordie and wife Natalie Milam of League City, TX; two daughters: Cheryl and her husband Clyde Lang of Ellis, KS and Natalie and her husband Rob Hrabe of Rapid City; one brother: Jerry and his wife Mary Milam of Goddard, KS; and two grandchildren: Mackenzie and her husband Patrick Millar and Ashley Hrabe. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Lorene Nahon. Visitation will be Monday, October 18 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Christian Wake Service and Rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday October 19 at 10:00 am at St. Therese Church, 532 Adams Street, with Rev. William Zandri officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Military Honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post #1273 and the South Dakota National Guard. Memorials may be sent to St. Therese Church, 532 Adams Street, Rapid City, SD 57701 in memory of Gordon.
