Rapid City - Grace Lucille Livingston, 80, left this life peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 after an 11 month battle with lung cancer. Grace was born the only child of Eular and Effie Inez Young on Dec. 31, 1927 at Ft. Benning, GA. She attended school at Columbus, Ga. graduating from high school in 1945. She met and married Robert Livingston, Sr. while he was stationed at Lawson Army Airfield and began a 59 year marriage on August 8, 1948. For 31 years, Grace and Bob, with their two children, were a career military family. They traveled all over the United States and spent 4 years in Spain. They were stationed at Ellsworth AFB in the summer of 1966. Both fell in love with Rapid City and the decision was made that this would be where they retired. They rapidly made life long friends in the area and were both happy in their home and in their lives. Grace loved her home and roses. She always had a beautiful rose garden. Both loved fishing, camping, horses and dogs. Both owned and rode horses well into their seventies. Grace is survived and mourned by her daughter, Terry Lea Livingston, Rapid City and her son, Robert Leland Livingston, Jr. and his wife Brenda and grandson Robert Leland Livingston III, of Jacksonville, NC and her loyal compainion, Koko. She was preceded in deeath by her husband and her parents. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Thursday, DEc. 4, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, Dec. 5 at the funeral home with Sr. Susan Pohl officiating. Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery. A memoriqal has been established to the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
