Obituary

RAPID CITY- Grace K. Roberts, 97, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Grace was born December 18, 1917 in Winfred, South Dakota to the late Phillip and Mary Ann (Williams) Lewis. She grew up in the Winfred area and graduated from Hill City High School. She then attended Black Hills Teacher's College in Spearfish. Grace enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged 2 ½ years later. She married Clarence "Click" Roberts in Texas. To this union one daughter, Carol Jean was born. The couple loved to square dance. The family moved from Texas to South Dakota and ranched outside of Wall, SD. Grace taught in rural Pennington County Schools for 38 years. Grace was an avid card player and enjoyed playing with her friends. She would do the daily crossword puzzles in the paper and she had a knack for trivia and U.S. History. Grace could always find the time to go shopping. She enjoyed dabbling in paint and sharing her artwork with her family and friends. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Grace was an amazing lady with a witty sense of humor. She was a kind hearted woman who always saw the good in everyone. She treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought so much joy into her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; three brothers: Rusty, Phillip, and Bill; two sisters: Pearl and Viola; son in law, Jerry; and her beloved dog and best friend, Elway. Grace is survived by her daughter, Carol Kreber, Tyndall; two grandsons: Bradley (Kim) Kreber, Spokane, WA; Scott (Jennifer) Kreber, Reno, NV; granddaughter, Rebecca Kreber, Rapid City; two great grandchildren: Joseph Stafford, Spokane, WA; Grace Kreber, Virginia Beach, VA. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Kroger officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors provided by the Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota Army National Guard.
