RAPID CITY- Gregory (Greg) Robert Pinholt passed away in May of 2012 while hiking in the wilderness of the Black Hills that he loved. He was found and returned to his family in July of 2013. Greg was born on November 29, 1955 in Watertown, SD to Robert and Evelyn (Berg) Pinholt. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. He played football in high school and graduated from Watertown High School in 1974. Greg was a cement contractor in Gillette, WY for a number of years before making Rapid City his home; where he became a Licensed Surveyor and established his own business, Pinholt Land Surveying. He loved working outdoors and camping and exploring in the Black Hills. Greg became an accomplished painter and the Black Hills beauty and rugged terrain became his favorite subjects. Besides painting, he loved spending time, when possible, with his nieces and nephews. Greg is survived by his parents: Robert and Evelyn Pinholt of Watertown, SD; sisters: Nancy (Mike) Springer of Bismarck, ND, Jill (Jack) Schreiner of Las Vegas, NV, Ellen (Rod) Michael of Rapid City, SD, Ann (Gaylen) Bialas of Gillette, WY; brother: Paul (Dorothy) Pinholt of Rowlette, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Arthur and Mabel Pinholt of Watertown, SD and Engval and Ina Berg of Lake Preston, SD; uncles: Don Pinholt of Phoenix, AZ, Len Munson of Watertown, SD; aunts: Janice St. Onge of West Palm Beach, FL, Doris Munson of Watertown, SD. Memorial services will be held at Nemo Community Church in Nemo, SD on August 17th at 2:00 PM.
