Obituary

Harold Harry Winfred Cole, 58, of Rapid City, SD peacefully passed away while surrounded by loved ones on November 26, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House as the result of kidney failure. Harold was born November 18, 1953 to William J. Cole, Sr. and Marjorie (Hupp) Cole in Winner, SD. He attended school in Rapid City where he was active in the Rapid City Boys Club and a member of the Rapid City Boxing Team. Harold was also a strong competitor in the neighborhood ball games. After his school days, Harold turned to Harley Davidsons and Chevys. He was the proud owner of several bikes and muscle cars. Harold also loved his canine companions and was rarely seen without one of his dogs. Harold was a long time employee and retiree from Metz Old Home Bakery. He was a loyal employee and loved working his ovens on the night shifts. The friendships he built with co-workers from the bakery, remained friends for life. After retirement, Harold continued to make friends and fill his days with many hobbies. He enjoyed working at the Canyon Lake Car Wash, attending the races at the Black Hills Speedway, watching football, and having coffee with old and new friends. Those who knew Harold will remember him as a generous, funny, and sometimes stubborn and ornery man who always looked forward to his camping vacations in Las Vegas and California. Harold was known for his heart of gold, but his heart was filled with love for his two children, John and Beckie, both of whom live in Rapid City. Besides his children, Harold was also survived by his brother, William Bill (Cathy) Cole, Piedmont; niece Carmen (Vince) Comer, Piedmont; niece Lacey (Justin) Weiss, Maurine; great nephew Gatlin Comer; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Tuesday, November 29 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 10am Wednesday, November 30 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Delbridge officiating.
