Harold R. Malke, 88, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 20, 2011. He was born on May 10, 1923, in Krem, North Dakota to Gustave and Emma (Miller) Malke. He grew up in the Krem area on the family farm and attended school there. He met Eunice McCarl, a school teacher in Krem, and the couple was married in Bismarck on January 25, 1952. They moved to Hazen, North Dakota, where Harold worked at the coal mines. The family moved to Minot and he received training as a sheet metal worker with Lane Sheet Metal. In 1959 the family moved to Billings and Harold worked for Billings Heating & Air Conditioning. In 1961 the family moved to Rapid City and Harold worked the missile sites. In 1962 Harold and Eunice joined Moose Lodge 1137 and they remained very active. Harold began work at Ellsworth AFB in 1966 with civil service. On May 6, 1984, Harold and Eunice joined Lord of Life Lutheran Church as charter members. In 1986 Harold and Eunice retired very much enjoyed their grandchildren. Harold is survived by a son, Wally Malke, Rapid City; two daughters, Bonita Maniscalco and Swenda (Tony) Rezac, all of Rapid City; 2 sisters, Elaine Suzek and Alice Malke, both of Hazel Park, Michigan; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca Maniscalco, Aaron Circle Bear, Amanda Maniscalco, Austin Circle Bear, Jetto Rezac , Nick (Emily) Maniscalco, Cody Rezac, Taylor Maniscalco, Trista Rezac and Alec Rezac. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Leola and his wife Eunice, on August 22, 1998. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., with Moose Rites at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bruce Baum officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Lawn Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Moose Lodge on E. St. Patrick Street.
