RAPID CITY | Harold O. "Hal" Weber, 86, Rapid City, died at the VA-BHHCS-Ft. Meade, Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. He was born May 12, 1926, at Columbus, NE, the son of Byron and Helen (Boesinger) Weber. He married LuEtta Foote on March 30, 1948, at Seward, NE. Hal was a career U.S. Army officer and the couple was stationed in Japan immediately following their marriage. They served at numerous Army installations including Omaha, NE, and Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Hal retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1970 and in 1971 the couple moved to Rapid City. In Rapid City Hal was active in many community affairs. He was an active member of VFW Post 1273 and served in many leadership positions with the VFW. He is a past South Dakota State Commander. Survivors include three sons, Terry Weber, Black Hawk, Larry Weber, Omaha, NE, and Keith Weber, Crawfordville, Florida; two daughters, Kathy Wipf, Rapid City, and Diane Thomsen, Omaha, NE, a brother, Kenneth Weber, Claremore, Oklahoma, two sisters, Luella Tworek, Blair, NE, and Enola Luehsinger, Columbia, NE; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, LuEtta Mae Weber in 1980, his wife, Ella Weber in 2005, a son in infancy, a great-grandchild, one brother and one sister. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m Tuesday at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Herb Cleveland officiating. Interment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 Honor Guard and the South Dakota National Guard. A memorial has been established for the VFW National Home for Children.
