Harry 'Bub'
Eagle Bull
February 4, 1940 – February 27, 2019
Harry "Bub" Raymond Eagle Bull, 79, of Porcupine, was born February 4, 1940 at Pine Ridge Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD to Alvina Big Crow and Lloyd "Toby" Eagle Bull. He passed away on February 27, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Harry graduated as Valedictorian from Oglala Community High School in 1959. He went on to attend Northern State Teachers College where he received a Bachelor's of Science – Education and later earned a Master of Arts in Education. In 1962 he married Donna Tuttle. Donna survives and they have 4 children, Gerard (deceased), Tammy of Lincoln, NE; Anne (Owen) of Porcupine, SD and Galen of Austin, TX.; and 5 grandchildren, Isabelle and Jack Hesson; Charles Eagle Bull; Landon and Ava Little.
Early in his career he taught at Fort Yates High School and later worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs Education Department, Aberdeen Area and he retired in 1992. From 1996 to 2012 he served as the Education Coordinator for the Oglala Sioux Tribe. Under former OST President Weston, Harry was the Education Liaison to the Oglala Lakota College and served on the TERO Commission. He served for many years on the Wahpeton Indian School Board as well as the Flandreau School Board. He was recently elected to the Pahin Sinte Owayawa School Board.
Harry is preceded in death by his son Gerard, his parents, grandparents Harry Eagle Bull and Jennie Whalen, Raymond Big Crow and Theresa Garcia; brothers Lloyd "Butch" Eagle Bull, Jamie Big Crow, Roger Mills, Lawrence "Babe" Eagle Bull, George Eagle Bull, Morris Eagle Bull and Davis Eagle Bull, sisters Oletha Mousseau, Clarinda Eagle Bull, and Jennie Eagle Bull.
He is also survived by his aunt Leatrice Mills of Rapid City, sisters Leatrice Big Crow and Yvonne DeCory both of Pine Ridge, Mary Louise Iron Cloud of Porcupine and brothers Leo Eagle Bull and Ryan Eagle Bull of Rapid City and James Eagle Bull of Texas.
A one night wake will begin at 1 pm on Sunday, March 3 at Porcupine School Gymnasium with a mass at 10 am Monday, March 4 with burial to follow at Christ the King Cemetery.
