Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Hazel B. Wasserburger (Rongved) Anderson passed away August 21, 2017 at Regional Hospital, Rapid City, SD.


Hazel was born June 21, 1928 in Montrose, NE to Herbert and Gertrude Wasserburger. She grew up in the Montrose and Ardmore, SD area. Hazel was married to Eugene Rongved in 1949.


To this union two children were born, Regina and Kirk. The family moved to California in 1954. Gene passed away in 1962. Hazel and the children moved to Rapid City in 1968.

On April 21, 1972 Hazel married John Anderson in Rapid City, SD where they made their home until 1973 when they moved to Sioux Falls SD. While living in the area Hazel became involved in Property Management. Moving back to Rapid City in 1980 she continued working as a property manager until 2008 when she retired. Her joys in life were her family and church.

She is survived by her Husband John, Daughter Regina (Jay) Van Wyk, Granddaughter Chelsea Van Wyk, Grandson Zachary (Heather) Van Wyk, brother Dale Wasserburger and Dallas (Enid) Wasserburger. Step Children Wayne Anderson, Custer SD, Dennis Anderson Two Harbors, MN Sandra (Dwight) Fischer, Rapid City SD, Jan Anderson Estes Park CO. Grandchildren Danielle (Todd) Wiebers, Kelli (Cory) Sorenson, Carrie (Adam) Ohman, Jill (Max) Ayars, Katie (Tom) Mousel.  Great Grandchildren Mary Wiebers, Portia Wiebers, Conor Sorenson, Nola Ayars, Harper Ayars, Anderson Ohman, Griffin Mousel, Hudson Mousel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Gene, son Kirk, brother Vincent, sisters Laurine Hartman, Vera Kleist, Letha Collins, Ann Mumm, Brothers-in-law Pat Hartman, Les Collins, Don Mumm and Paul Kleist. Sisters-in-law, Henrietta Hoffmann Wasserburger, Judy Wasserburger. Nieces Judith Haedt, Geri Ann (Marty) Lugenbuehl. Nephews Lloyd Kleist and Larry Mumm.

Graveside services for family will be held in Montrose NE September 29th.
